- Profile

I am a Wellcome Trust PhD student on the Public Health Economics and Decision Science scheme. My research involves building an agent-based model to explore the barriers to accessing food insecurity interventions (such as food banks and food clubs) and the resulting impact on public health outcomes.
Prior to starting my PhD, I worked as a public health modeller in the Sheffield Addictions Research Group (SARG) within the Division for Population Health. My work included modelling alcohol interventions including changing the alcohol duty system and implementing a Minimum Unit Price (MUP). I also contributed to the Youth Drinking in Decline (Y-DiD) team, investigating the reasons for the decline in youth drinking since the early 2000s. Concurrently with my role at SARG, I completed an MSc in Health Economics and Decision Modelling.

- Research interests
-
My main interest lies in applying computational models and Health Economics and Decision Science principles to explore the complexities of real-world public health problems and help inform effective decision-making.
Previously, my research has concentrated on two areas: Health Behaviours and Policy, where I've modelled the public health impact of alcohol policies (e.g., alcohol duty reforms and Minimum Unit Price/MUP) and studied trends in drinking and the distribution of gambling rates; and Intervention Access, exploring the barriers to, and usage of, food insecurity interventions (such as food banks and food clubs).
