Gordon is the Royal College of Emergency (RCEM) Professor of Emergency Medicine, RCEM national research network lead, and co-chair of the National Major Trauma Registry Clinical Steering Group.
Clinically, he qualified with distinction from the University of Glasgow Medical School in 2002 and has completed emergency medicine training in Nottingham, Greater Manchester and South Yorkshire. His training has additionally included basic surgical training, and paediatric and major trauma fellowships in South Africa. He currently works in the Northern General major trauma centre.
Academically, Gordon completed a BSc (Hons, 1st) in Pharmacology at the University of Glasgow with award of the Jon Buchannan and John J Lewis Prizes. During a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship he then worked with the Trauma Audit and Research Network and completed a MPH (awarded with distinction) specialising in Global Health. He has subsequently been awarded NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship, NIHR Clinical Trials Fellowship, NIHR Health Data Science Fellowship, and NIHR clinical lecturer posts at the TV. Gordon is a twice-winner of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine Rod Little Prize for Research.

- Parametric survival analysis, linear regression, logistic regression, adjusted limited dependent variable modelling, multi-level modelling, multiple imputation, probabilistic sensitivity analysis, agreement and reliability statistics
