Profile

Owen Stampton is a post-doctoral research associate at the Centre for Korean Studies working on Korean literature. His main research areas are poetry and drama, focusing on the transitional era of the late nineteenth to early twentieth century and the rise and fall of literary genres as Korea found itself caught in the tides of enlightenment and civilisation, tradition and modernity, imperialism and nationalism. At the Centre for Korean Studies, Owen is working on his first monograph while coordinating events and contributing to activities showcasing Korea to the Sheffield community.

Before joining the team at Sheffield, Owen taught at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada and at the School or Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.
