Anis Apriliawati studied Human Resource Management at the ±¬ÁÏTV and graduated in 2015. She is now a Senior Policy Analyst at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, and found the skills developed on her course were highly transferrable.
My one-year living in Sheffield as a Master's student sponsored by my Ministry not only expanded my horizon, but also shaped a different 'me'. The new 'me' was one that is more open-minded, less judgmental, and has enhanced self-efficacy and network. These attributes have been crucial in leveraging my career advancement.
Transferrable skills
My experience earning an MSc in Human Resource Management (HRM) from the ±¬ÁÏTV, UK, provided a robust and surprisingly relevant foundation for my current role as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology. The experience did not just teach me how to manage people; it taught me how to architect systems where people can thrive. Transitioning from HRM to Higher Education Policy was seamless because both fields are ultimately about maximising human potential.
A dynamic career
Since my graduation from the Management School of the ±¬ÁÏTV, my career path at the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology has been truly dynamic. Right after my graduation in 2015, I was appointed as Vice Head for Partnership, allowing me to administer partnership initiatives with national and international counterparts to support the Ministry programs. Later on, in 2019 I was appointed as Head of Overseas Education Unit, where I was in charge of degree and non-degree overseas scholarship programs for Indonesian faculty. Recently, I passed a national exam which has allowed me to become a Senior Policy Analyst, which is a recognition of my professional competency as a government employee. This role offers me a vast opportunity to develop policy recommendations, particularly those relevant to Indonesian faculty capacity enhancement, to the Ministry.
