Following the completion of my PGDE in Physics with Maths, I joined WMG Young Engineer Academy as a Physics and Mathematics teacher. My current responsibilities involve delivering rigorous instruction across A-level Physics, Mathematics, and Further Mathematics , as well as teaching T Level and BTEC Engineering modules. Additionally, I serve as an IGCSE Physics Examiner for OCR, and I am now preparing to take on my recently appointed role as the Head of Physics at Thomas Telford UTC starting July26.
The PGDE was the cornerstone of my transition into the UK education system, providing me with the essential pedagogical training to complement my research background. Through extensive secondary placements, I gained hands-on experience teaching a diverse range of subjects and year groups, including A-level Physics and Further Mathematics, which directly prepared me for the rigors of my subsequent role at WMG Academy. Furthermore, being awarded the prestigious £29,000 Institute of Physics scholarship during my time at Sheffield provided me with access to a specialised professional network and resources that accelerated my growth as an educator.

The extensive placements at Wales High School—teaching a broad range of sciences and mathematics across all year groups—offered a "vigorous" training ground that perfectly prepared me for the high-pressure environment of a secondary school.
To anyone aspiring to become a teacher, my advice is to work hard and persevere! Fully embrace the demanding training programme, as its intensity builds the resilience required for the high-pressure school environment.
