Profile

I joined the University in 2004 as a Clinical Tutor and became Head of the Academic Unit of Dental Hygiene and Therapy in 2010. I have completed the University’s Certificate in Learning and Teaching and have a BSc in Dental Studies at the University of Central Lancashire. 

In January 2025 I was promoted to Professor, making me the first and only Professor of Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy in the UK. I am currently the Deputy Director of Education for the School of Clinical Dentistry, where I am focussing on student experience and working with the Curriculum Review Group to develop new curricula for the BDS and Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy programmes.

Teaching interests

My main interests are around the training of dental hygienists and dental therapists, dental teamwork and the use of peer-assisted teaching in dental education.
